When I was pursuing my undergraduate degree, i was intrigued by the importance of the knowledge of Finance in one's personal life. It was when Bitcoin was becoming popular and that triggered my interest in finance. As i read more about blockchain and Bitcoin, I was fascinated by how technology is shaping finance and more broadly individuals' lives. I understood I would enjoy pursuing a career in finance much more than any other field so I decided to pursue BBA in Finance.
Corporate Finance interests me the most. This interest is something I developed during my BBA as worked on a lot of business cases. I understood the importance of managing a company's finances really well and the dangers of not managing it at the same time.
I use a variety of sources to stay updated on latest trends in finance. From reading FT.com to listening to podcasts, over a period of time I curated a list of resources I lean on to get the latest updates on finance. I find listening to podcasts much more effective than reading since I found reading requires a dedicated attention, which I could afford only during the weekends.
I read the job description and was immediately convinced that this role has the potential to offer me everything I was looking for in my first professional opportunity, including areas where I can immediately contribute to the team I would be part of. While I crave opportunities for learning and development in the form of projects and working within an experienced, I also want to start contributing to the team's and organization's success early on; for these reasons, I found the role very interesting and decided to apply.
In the next 3 - 5 years, I want to explore other areas in finance through pursuing cross-functional projects when opportunities arise so I can become a well-rounded finance professional. In the long-term, my interests are to deepen my corporate-finance knowledge to enable me to become the Head of Finance for a division or the CFO or a small organization.
